One of the most highly-anticipated movies to come out of Korea is The Beauty Inside. As a result of major praise for its viewing at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, the movie secured distribution rights to 11 countries throughout Asia. However, it was unknown if the rights were also secured for North America. If so, most would have thought it would appear on show-streaming sites that have a preference to Korean media, such as Viki or DramaFever.
Now, viewership rights for The Beauty Inside have been secured for a North American viewing. The movie, featuring an array of actors, has already released in theaters.
The Beauty Inside opened to the American and Canadian box offices on Friday, September 11, 2015, as reported by KdramaStars. This is possible thanks to Well Go USA Entertainment, the same company responsible for bringing another highly-anticipated Korean film, titled Assassination (starring Jun Ji Hyun of My Love From The Star, Lee Jun Jae of Air City, and Ha Jung Woo of Lovers in Prague) to North America, too.
The Korean movie is an adaption from an American social commentary film back in 2012, in which Han Hyo Joo plays Yi Soo. She is the only constant for the man she loves, Woo Jin. However, Woo Jin’s life is different, because he is plagued by an ability (or curse) of waking up as a different person each day. This is regardless of age, nationality, or gender. Ergo, more than 20 talented actors and actresses play the role of Woo Jin, including the most popular Korean actress today, Park Shin Hye. This also brings up a very unique question. Since Shin Hye is technically playing Woo Jin, who is the male lead, and he is in love with Yi Soo, do the actresses actually kiss? Actually, how many actors (and actresses possibly) did Hyo Joo kiss for this film?
The Beauty Inside is currently playing in select theaters in both the United States and Canada. If one anticipating the film wants to see if they were lucky enough to have a viewing close to them, theaters playing the film are listed at Well Go USA Entertainment’s official website.
