Cleveland Cavaliers Rumors: Kevin Love Injury Update Revealed
Cleveland Cavaliers rumors about Kevin Love’s injury were addressed by the All-Star himself. Cavaliers rumors about player injuries have been a constant during the NBA offseason, with Love and Kyrie Irving trying to recover from surgeries. A report from CBS Sports states that Love feels great, and that his surgically repaired shoulder should be ready to go by the start of the regular season. The Cavs’ power forward spoke at length about a surgery that had a recovery timetable of four to six months.
“I feel great. I actually spent three weeks in Park City, Utah at the Olympic training facility there, rehabbed my shoulder, got in great shape and now I feel great. I’m probably about a month, month and a half away, I don’t want to set an immediate deadline now but I really feel great.”
This is certainly great news for fans of the Cavaliers as well as fantasy basketball owners. Love has been a force since getting drafted into the league since getting drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2008 NBA Draft. He spent six seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves after a draft day trade and then played the 2014-15 season with the Cavaliers. Now, he has a nice contract extension that will pay him escalating salaries for the next five years in Cleveland.
While prior Cleveland Cavaliers rumors alluded to the team taking its time bringing back Kyrie Irving from his surgery, it looks like full speed ahead for Kevin Love. The 27-year-old will look to improve upon his numbers from the last NBA season, where he averaged 16.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. A dip in his minutes per game to 33.8 and his usage in clutch situations hurt his numbers a bit, but he still showed star potential with the Cavs.
Now that it appears Love is nearly healthy, the high expectations will once again be placed upon his shoulders. With the Cavaliers coming up just short in the 2015 NBA Finals, there is a lot of confidence among analysts and fans that the Cavs can get right back for another title shot. It all comes down to health, though, so the front office and coaching staff will take more precautions when it comes to getting Love and Irving back on the basketball court. That means there could be more Cleveland Cavaliers rumors this offseason, including when the team plans to allow Love to play in game action again.
