Preakness Results: Rachel Alexandra beats Mine That Bird, Borel 2 from 2

Rachel Alexandra ruined the triple crown campaign for Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird today by winning the 134th Preakness Stakes.

Rachel Alexandra, with a time of 1:55:08 was the first filly to win the race since 1924 and the first to win from the usually unlucky 13th post. Rachel Alexandra lead early and was unchallenged until late in the race until Mine That Bird charged down the straight behind her. Musket Man came third.

Riding Rachel Alexandra was jockey Calvin Borel, who also rode Mine That Bird to a win in the Kentucky Derby. Borel claimed after the race that Rachel Alexandra wasn’t giving her best today, and is scheduled to ride the filly again in the third leg of the triple crown, the Belmont Stakes.
