Donald Driver Crowned Dancing With the Stars Champion

Posted: May 23, 2012

After a satisfying final three, Donald Driver, star receiver for the Green Bay Packers, along with his partner Peta Murgatroyd were crowned Dancing With the Stars champions in Tuesday night’s results show.

Driver and his partner managed to beat Katherine Jenkins, who came in second, and William Levy, who came in third, to take home the coveted mirror ball trophy

Driver and Murgatroyd may have proven to be a hit with the voting public, but the football star admitted that the dancing duo was nervous about their chances going into the results show.

“We had an amazing freestyle,” Driver said of their performance (via Today). “I’ve been watching the show for a long time, and now I know what (past winners) J.R. Martinez and Hines Ward felt. Right now, I’m on cloud nine.”

Now that the competition is over, Driver tells People that he won’t be doing anything else of that nature in the immediate future. Instead, Driver intends to focus on spending time with his wife and kids.

“[My wife] says she wants to go take a trip. So we’re going to take a Disney cruise as a family,” Driver said. “We’re going to spend as much time together [as we can],” he says. “That’s what you have to do, because my family has been behind me the whole time.”

Do you think that Donald Driver was the right choice?

The choice for Drive and Murgatroyd to do the western number was probably what won the popular vote, along with the style Drive displayed. He certainly did improve over the show, and I’m happy for him and the fact that he can take a vacation while his team is getting ready for the next football season. I was glad I saw the show at all with my busy schedule too, and now I watch my shows like DWTS in the morning while getting ready to go into work at Dish. That is possible with PrimeTime Anytime and Auto Hop since I can automatically skip the commercials. I save over 20 minutes that way and still get to work on time.
