Oath Keepers Kim Davis Protected? Group Defends Anti-Gay Marriage Clerk But Survivor Roars At ‘Eye Of The Tiger’ Use

Oath Keepers wants to protect Kim Davis, the clerk who has taken a stance against issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. However, in light of the past statements from the Oath Keepers, what could happen in this case has some concerned, reported MSNBC.

What the Oath Keepers intends to provide for Kim, the Kentucky clerk who recently was released from jail after refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, is protection from any law enforcement officials in the event that they threaten to arrest Davis again.

The Oath Keepers are taking the stance that Kim should not have been jailed. Recognizing that the statements that Davis has made indicate she may continue to refuse to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, Stewart Rhodes of the Oath Keepers has stepped up with the announcement that his organization is ready to run interference for her.

“Defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” reads the Oath Keepers pledge.

Oath Keepers Explain Their Views

But how they enforce that pledge has resulted in concerns. At a gathering, Oath Keepers representative Rhodes discussed Sen. John McCain.

“[McCain should be tried for treason and] hung by the neck until dead [for going] along with the program of the destruction of this country,” said Rhodes.

He also attacked President Obama.

“[Obama is] trying to [create] a race war….leftists in this country hate this country, they hate it, and they will get in bed with radical Islamists because they have a common enemy, western civilization.”

As for the Oath Keepers attitude toward Kim, Rhodes wants the judge to be aware of how they feel about Davis’ future.

“[T]his judge needs to be put on notice that his behavior is not going to be accepted and we’ll be there to stop it and intercede ourselves if we have to,” said the Oath Keepers spokesman.

A video that was uploaded, however, included a statement underneath indicating that Kim’s legal team had declined the offer of protection, shown below.

However, the Oath Keepers, known to be well-armed, could come up against the U.S. Marshals if the civilian militia organization does attempt to protect Kim from being detained, reported AOL.

The U.S. Marshals have been told that they have orders to detain Davis if she again will not carry out the federal court order.

Survivor Roars About Use Of ‘Eye Of The Tiger’

And if the Oath Keepers are seeking a theme song to play in the event that they do need to protect Kim, they may want to check before playing “Eye Of The Tiger.” Survivor recently learned that the group’s song had been played at a rally after Davis was released, reported the Los Angeles Times.

Using Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” in that way without the group’s permission has resulted in a backlash from the musical members.

And the song’s co-author, Frankie Sullivan, who also is the group’s guitarist, spoke out on Facebook.

“NO! We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use ‘My Tune -The Eye Of The Tiger.’ I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin!”

However, the use of “Eye Of The Tiger” appears to have been chosen by a member of Mike Huckabee’s staff, who worked on putting together the rally.

As the Inquisitr reported, Huckabee recently received a history lesson after he used the Dred Scott decision to defend Davis.

However, the 14th Amendment to the Constitution provided full citizenship to African Americans and overturned that decision, thus making Huckabee’s repeated citation of the Dred Scott decision erroneous.
