JetBlue Flight 47: Man Caught Urinating On Fellow Passengers, Gets Arrested

A man onboard a JetBlue flight was arrested after he was caught urinating on other passengers traveling with him. According to CNN, one of the passengers on the plane, identified as 27-year-old Jeff D. Rubin has been accused of urinating on passengers sitting in front of his seat as well as their luggage. The incident happened on JetBlue Flight 47, which was on a routine flight from Anchorage, Alaska to Portland, Oregon.

Initial reports say that Rubin was asleep most of the time during the three-hour-flight. Trouble started just after the aircraft started the descend towards Portland. Just 30 minutes before the flight was scheduled to land, Jeff stood up and started urinating onto the passengers seated in front of him through the crack of the seat. To make matters worse, while doing this, he lost his balance and fell backwards causing him to urinate upwards. This got on the passengers sitting next to him and even some of their luggage.

“At some point Jeff Rubin lost his balance causing him to fall backwards and urinate upwards which got on the passengers and seats next to him as well as some other passenger’s personal belongings,” a police official told CNN.

After the fiasco, he slumped back on to his seat and went back to sleep. The JetBlue flight landed normally and after all other passenger deplaned, cops entered the aircraft – only to see Rubin still sleeping on his seat.

Jeff Rubin was later identified to be a resident of Gresham, Oregon. After he was arrested by the police, they filed two misdemeanor charges against him: criminal mischief and offensive littering. He was later detained and sent to the Multnomah County Detention Center, where incidentally, each cell has an urinal.

Five hours later, Jeff was released on his own recognizance.

At this moment, it remains unclear why Rubin went on his urinating spree on other passengers and if he was in an inebriated state when he did that.

While we have heard of several horror stories that have unfolded in mid air, this one seems to be the first instance of a passenger actually urinating on others. In the past we have reported about dogs pooping on planes, people made to sit on vomit infested seats and about irate passengers who are just angry at anything that moves inside the plane – including their co-passengers and flight attendants.

It is unclear if Rubin has an attorney. Phone calls to his home in Gresham went unanswered.
