WWE News: TNA Star Kurt Angle To Appear At ‘WWE Royal Rumble PPV’ In 2016?

TNA Wrestling star Kurt Angle has been involved in the pro-wrestling world for nearly 20 years now. After he won the Gold Medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in the wrestling category with a “broken freakin neck” he decided to continue his love of wrestling professionally. Always a fan of it, it made sense to think that a skilled athlete like Angle would fit right into pro-wrestling the moment he came in. He was a hot commodity as well, as all three major American pro-wrestling companies wanted him.

Kurt Angle visited everyone but made his home in WWE, and that was where he spent around ten years of his life before deciding to move on to something else. He needed a lighter schedule but also something that would give him the right kind of money he wanted. TNA was moving to Spike TV at the time, and they could offer such a deal to Angle. He along with several others such as Sting became a big part of TNA’s Impact Wrestling program.

Now toward the end of his career, Angle has decided that he will not renew his contract with TNA Wrestling and will be taking time away from pro-wrestling. Of course, this is an excuse we heard many wrestlers use in the past and one Angle himself used years ago when telling WWE Chairman Vince McMahon he needed a break… all before jumping ship to TNA.

Angle’s deal expires with TNA in January. This has led many to believe that Kurt Angle will be making an appearance with WWE at least in the Royal Rumble match that same month. It is not crazy to think, as rumors have been swirling about such a possibility since Angle made the announcement that he would not re-sign with TNA. Before signing this deal, Angle attempted to get a deal with WWE but it simply did not work out.

Angle Heyman

However, now that the likes of Sting and The Dudley Boyz are back with WWE, we very well could see the multi-time WWE Champion back with WWE.

There is an issue that people do have to consider. While Angle’s deal might expire in January, it very well could have a no-compete clause attached to it for a little while. With TNA, it is unknown. Most believe that Angle was able to structure his deal so that this would not be an issue when it ended. It is also interesting that it expires in January right before the biggest events in pro-wrestling happen.

It is interesting to note that The Royal Rumble has taken place in the state of Pennsylvania the last two years. Which would have been perfect return areas for Kurt Angle, a local Penn boy who grew up there. However, the Rumble will take place in Orlando, Florida in 2016. This is actually better for someone like Kurt Angle as he lives in the area due to his history with TNA.

It is not crazy to believe that the rumor of him being a surprise addition to the Rumble match is possible. In fact, it is not only possible but highly likely as WWE loves to bring back old names as competitors. WWE obviously won’t have him win it, but Angle could impress top WWE brass and land a WWE Legends deal that would allow him to come in here and there but pretty much allow him to retire. Every fan out there seems to want Kurt Angle to finish his career with WWE. Giving him one last run would be great, however at the very least a Rumble appearance couldn’t hurt.
