Ben Higgins Jokes About Being Cool Enough For ‘Bachelor,’ Thanks Chris Soules For Support

Ben Higgins is well aware that some The Bachelor viewers don’t think that he’s exciting enough to carry a whole season. Since Ben has been announced as the franchise’s next star, he has been responding to people who say that he’s too boring to be the next Bachelor after Chris Soules. On Sunday, Ben defended himself again by cracking a joke about how cool and edgy he is.

In response to someone who seemingly said that Ben isn’t edgy and cool, Ben joked that he sometimes eat peaches from the grocery store without washing them first.

Ben was the third runner-up for Kaitlyn Bristowe on The Bachelorette. Throughout his entire time on the show, he stayed out of the drama, including the one between Shawn Booth and Nick Viall, and remained focused on Kaitlyn. He didn’t even reveal to Kaitlyn that he turned 26 years old during filming until after the fact because he didn’t want his birthday to be a distraction. He also worried that Kaitlyn would find his younger age problematic. Kaitlyn reassured Ben that, contrary to his feeling that he was “unlovable,” he was indeed lovable, and that his maturity meant that his younger age wasn’t a problem.

Unfortunately for Ben Higgins, Kaitlyn ultimately didn’t feel as if her connection with him was strong enough, and sent him home while they were in Ireland, before it came down to meeting the men’s families. While some of the other men on the show lost their composure upon being sent home, Ben remained composed and respectful of Kaitlyn.

After weeks of speculation, Ben was confirmed as the next The Bachelor star during the Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise talk show in late August. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Kaitlyn Bristowe recently admitted that she thinks that the producers should have both Ben Higgins and Ben Zorn, another 26-year-old fan favorite from her season, kick off the next season and compete against one another for the top spot. She said that it was only fair, a reference to the fact that she had to compete against Britt Nilsson to be the remaining Bachelorette on her season. However, Kaitlyn also added that if there has to be only one Bachelor, she’s glad that it was Ben H. who got picked.

Another person who thinks that Ben Higgins is a good choice for the role is the previous Bachelor, Chris Soules. Chris, whose engagement to his final pick, Whitney Bischoff, ended after just a few months, recently wished Ben the best of luck on his journey to find love. Ben thanked Chris for his support and admitted how crazy it was that he was watching Chris as the Bachelor just a year ago.
