Ron Paul’s son Rand Paul announces Kentucky Senate run

Rand Paul, the son of failed 2008 US Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul wants to take the Ron Paul Revolution message to Washington.

Rand announced on the Rachel Maddow show tonight (May 14) that he has set up an exploratory committee as the first step in a run for the Republican nomination for a Senate seat in Kentucky.

Rand, like his father believes that the Republican party has gotten off message, and needs to focus on traditional conservative beliefs such as small Government. There’s also a RandPaul2010.com website which seems to have borrowed its design inspiration from Barack Obama.

Here’s the video of Rand Paul making his announcement this evening. One thing to note: he is very much like his father, not just in message, but also in the way he speaks and sounds.
