Amy Duggar is joyful about her wedding, from what she admits was the “trashy” part to how she now has a different last name than the infamous Josh Duggar. For Amy, who has challenged everything from courting methods to the 19 Kids And Counting family’s ban on alcohol, life after getting married seems like a new freedom – and she’s already updated her mini-bio on Twitter!
Announcing that she was glad to have a new last name prior to tying the knot, Amy now is even more upbeat about separating herself following the Josh Duggar scandal, reported Refinery 29.
Even before her wedding day, Amy was proclaiming her relief over changing her name. She is the niece of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, Josh’s parents.
“I can’t wait to change my name! It’s going to be a great day when Dillon signs that marriage license and my last name changes. You have no idea!” exclaimed Amy prior to getting married.
As for how Amy felt about the Duggar family rules, which included strict guidelines on courtship, she challenged them long before Josh confessed that he had cheated on his wife Anna using the Web site Ashley Madison.
“I can’t even imagine courting like that. It works for them, and I hope to God they have successful relationships. But what if they suck at kissing? I can’t imagine not kissing to full blown ‘let’s do it all’ in 30 seconds!”
That was then, and now Amy is celebrating her new life – and new last name – with husband Dillon King, reported People.
Amy Duggar is now Amy King, and she had a party that transformed the soft romance of her wedding into a reception to remember with country music.
Although they attended part of it, Jim Bob, Michelle, and some of their children left, said Amy.
“They left right when the music was starting,” said Amy of the other Duggars. “They stayed for two songs or so. It was country so they probably dealt with it.”
In addition, the newlywed revealed that after the 19 Kids And Counting clan left, it went from sedate to wild.
“The lights went down, the disco lights came up. Everybody kicked off their shoes. It went from classy to trashy real quick, which was the best!” exclaimed Amy.
The rebel Duggar cousin also shared that they brought out the alcoholic beverages once her family members left. Drinks ranged from champagne to mixed drinks to whiskey.
Once the celebration ended, Amy roared off with Dillon on his motorcycle. And she revealed how much they adore each other.
“He was staring at his ring all morning. We’re just so in love.”
On Twitter, Amy now has a new mini-bio that sums up how she feels about her life now that she’s not a Duggar.
“I was once a Duggar, now I’m just a normal girl with a not so normal life! Christ follower, lover of storms and anything vintage and a total free spirit.”
Amy did take care to make sure that the Duggars would feel comfortable at her wedding with options to the bar featuring alcohol, reported Entertainment Tonight.
Water infused with fruit was available and comfort food options ranging from pecan pie to chicken.
What’s next for Dillon and Amy now that the wedding is over? The newlyweds went to Kansas City, and then they’ll head off to their honeymoon in Cancun.
