Alyssa Milano Talks Breastfeeding Her Daughter, ‘Maybe Even Until She’s 6’

Alyssa Milano has always been very open when it comes to breastfeeding her daughter, Elizabella Dylan. So, it was no surprise when she decided to share a throwback photo of her breastfeeding her daughter in celebration of her first birthday on Instagram.

“Happy Birthday, my beautiful Elizabella,” she wrote alongside the photo of her nursing Elizabella as an infant. “You’ve taught me that my heart has no end. You were the missing piece to my soul. Thank you for choosing me.”

The 42-year-old actress also shared a photo of Elizabella showing off her special birthday dress.

“My big girl! 1 year old,” she captioned the photo.

Despite the harsh backlash she receives from posting breastfeeding photos on social media, the former Mistresses star continues to do so, hoping to make others understand the beauty in breastfeeding.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight,Alyssa Milano joked that she would breastfeed her daughter until she is 6-years-old if she wants to.

“I don’t care,” she said. “I’m going to keep breastfeeding, maybe even until [Elizabella is] 6!”

Milano also spoke on how breasts in today’s society are sexualized, noting that it isn’t a big deal for Miley Cyrus’ nipples to appear on television, but it is for her to share pictures of her breasts while nursing her child.

“Everyone’s fine with her [Miley Cyrus’] nipples being out,” she said. “I think people are more comfortable sexualizing breasts than relating them to what they were made for, which is feeding another human.”

“When you have these babies, that connection is so meant to be and so profound,” Milano, who also has a 4-year-old son named Milo, said. “You look at them and you go, ‘Oh, this is why. This is why I went through everything in my life.’ ”

After making the comment to the website, Alyssa made sure to clarify one of her comments.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Alyssa Milano had a rather bad experience with the Heathrow Airport authorities in April when they confiscated her breast milk. She had pumped several ounces to take on the plane with her so she could have enough milk to feed Elizabella when she arrived. The airport said the milk wasn’t compliant with their rules for containing liquids, and then they proceeded to take the milk and the cooler it was stored in, sending Milano in a fit of rage.

“@HeathrowAirport just took my pumped breast milk away. 10 ounces. Gone. Not okay,” she tweeted at the time. “They said they would let the pumped milk through if I had the baby with me. Why would I need to pump if I had the baby with me????”
