New Apple iPad Pro Announced At Apple Event, Launching November

Apple’s all-important September 9 event is underway in San Francisco right now. The event started off with announcing an update to the existing Apple Watch line up. Second in line was the announcement of the much rumored iPad Pro. The iPad Pro gets a larger, high resolution display measuring 12.9-inches. The resolution is a staggering 2732 x 2748 pixels. That translates to a total of 5.6 Million pixels. This makes the display of the iPad Pro even sharper than that of the Retina MacBook Pro.

The iPad Pro is powered by the new Apple A9X chip. It is claimed to be 1.8 times faster than the outgoing Apple A8X chip used on the existing iPad. Apple claims to offer desktop class computing performance on the new iPad Pro. At the introduction event, Apple claimed that the iPad Pro is faster than most Windows PCs shipped this year. The device is so powerful, it can handle three 4K video editing streams without any hiccups. Another new addition is a new 4-speaker audio that promises far better audio quality than existing iPad models. The iPad Pro also gets an 8 megapixel iSight camera at the rear and an HD front camera. It also gets Touch ID.

Even with the huge, high resolution display, the iPad Pro claims a 10 hour battery life. The device is also remarkably thin and measures just 6.9mm thick — only marginally thicker than the iPad Air. In fact, the Apple iPad Pro weighs the same as that first generation iPad — but offers 78 percent more display area and 360 times the graphics prowess of the first iPad mode. To enhance productivity, the iPad Pro also gets a new keyboard. Instead of using a wireless connectivity protocol, the Smart keyboard, as it is called, connects to the iPad using a new connector, known as the Smart Connector. This new standard is similar to the existing MagSafe connector, but can transfer data.

Another major addition is the new Apple Pencil which allows users to draw on the iPad screen. Microsoft showcased a version of Microsoft Office designed specifically for the new iPad Pro. Adobe also launched a bunch of new products tailormade for the iPad Pro.

The new Apple iPad Pro would be made available starting November, 2015. It will come in three color options and in two capacity versions — 32GB and 128GB. Here are the prices for all the versions.

  • 32GB with WiFi:$799
