When Does ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Return? Premiere Date, Full Lineup For Season 21

Dancing With The Stars is set to return for Season 21, one that’s already filled with drama even before the first dance begins.

The 21st season of the celebrity dancing competition will debut on Monday, September 14, at 8 p.m. on ABC.

The show has already had its first elimination. Dancing pro Peta Murgatroyd, who was paired with singer Andy Grammer, was forced to bow out of this year’s competition due to an ankle injury that is expected to keep her sidelined for six to eight weeks.

Murgatroyd was fresh off a three-month long Dancing With The Stars live tour, and said she realized something was wrong during her rehearsals with Grammer, Us Weekly noted.

“The past three days have been really tough to say the least,” Murgatroyd tweeted to fans on August 31. “I learned that my ankle injury is at a stage that needs surgery immediately. I’m so sorry but I have to step out of Season 21 of DWTS,” she continued.

“This is obviously one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever made and I seriously struggled with the idea of not being able to dance, but I know my health does come first, and the sooner I get this done, the sooner I can be back in the ballroom for all of you!” she added.

Allison Holker will be stepping in to partner with Grammer.

There are some other interesting additions to the lineup, including the first-ever husband and wife team. Alexa PenaVega and her husband, Carlos PenaVega, will try to take on the other competitors — and each other — to win the Mirror Ball Trophy.

The cast includes some of the other usual faces, including boy band members (both Carlos PenaVega and Backstreet Boy Nick Carter), social media celebrities (Hayes Grier) and reality television stars (Kim Zolciak-Biermann).

The complete lineup for Dancing With The Stars season 21 is as follows.

  • Alek Skarlatos with Lindsay Arnold
