Hilary Clinton Does Not Want To Run Against Kanye West For President, Celebs Weigh In [Video]

During the MTV Video Music Awards, which were held last week, Kanye West accepted his award from Taylor Swift with pleasure, yet he ensured that he left fans and viewers with one more of his shocking comments. The “Stronger” rapper has become well known for his verbal excesses, and Kanye decided to use his chance at the mic to announce that he planned to run for the presidency in 2020.

Hilary Clinton voiced her own opinion on Kanye’s recent show of enthusiasm for the presidency, and she was not as open to the possibility of a Yeezus campaign as other celebrities. As ET notes, Hilary spoke with Ellen DeGeneres about West’s announcement, and she didn’t seem to be amused or perhaps she was worried about the competition the rap star will stir up.

“I heard him make the announcement and he said he wanted to run in 2020. I would only ask him if I’m running for reelection to wait. But otherwise a lot of people want to run for President these days.”

The 67-year-old politician then commented on the fact that she would be not only the oldest president if elected but also the youngest woman.

“Well I think it’s very important, but the way I look at it is I would be the youngest woman ever elected President of the United States.”

In regards to the possibility of West campaigning for the 2020 presidency, other celebrities have weighed in on the issue. Hilary’s own daughter, Chelsea Clinton, has a totally open view to Kanye running. Chelsea spoke with MTV and noted some definite benefits Kanye could bring simply by announcing his intentions to run.

“I definitely think who runs for office is really important. Even if [Kanye] just saying that helps sparks a little boy or a little girl who was watching the VMAs to think, ‘Oh, wow! Maybe I should do that,’ that’s awesome.”

Alec Baldwin was also open, much like Chelsea Clinton, to Mr. West taking the oval office, as shared by Cosmopolitan.

“I think it’s fantastic. I think anybody participating in politics, running — it’s too elitist now, too many elites. Even though Kanye himself is an elite, he’s a different kind of elite.”

The attention and comparisons are additionally being drawn between Kanye’s shocking announcement and another celeb’s run for the presidency during this campaign season. Donald Trump has been making headlines for not only his campaign for president but also for his controversial comments, mainly directed at illegal immigrants and women.

Rihanna, therefore, shared that she didn’t see why Kanye running would be such a shock after Trump’s latest political moves.

The songstress chatted with ET on the subject.

“I mean people are voting for [Donald] Trump. Who wouldn’t vote for Kanye?… His speech was incredible.”
