New Bourne Movie Underway — Set Photos Surface, Including Shirtless Matt Damon
The Inquisitr recently reported that actor Matt Damon had confirmed rumors about an upcoming fifth movie to the series following Jason Bourne. Now, more news has come from the set of the new Bourne movie, including an exclusive photo from the set showing a shirtless Matt Damon as the titular assassin.
According to Coming Soon, production is underway for the next installment in the Jason Bourne franchise, though the film is still untitled. This movie will feature the return of Matt Damon, who was absent from the fourth film starring Jeremy Renner in the leading role. Paul Greengrass will be returning to direct, having directed both The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum.
But the news that has Matt Damon fans talking is the photo from the set tweeted by the film’s producer, Frank Marshall. The picture shows a half-naked Matt Damon seemingly preparing for one of the Bourne movie’s signature fight scenes.

Matt Damon hasn’t portrayed the iconic Jason Bourne character since The Bourne Ultimatum, way back in 2007. According to E! Online, the actor has been working with personal trainer Jason Welsh to get back in shape to reprise the role.
“Matt is absolutely the best client anybody could ever hope for,” Welsh said. “He is hard working and he is funny as hell. So we keep it light, but we work really, really hard.”
Welsh also helped Matt Damon get fit for his upcoming sci-fi film The Martian.
Matt Damon recently spoke to BuzzFeed about the upcoming sequel. And while he was careful not to give away too much, he did hint that the film has a lot to do with government spying.
“Without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world,” Matt Damon revealed. “It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.”
While the fifth Bourne film still has no title, it does have a release date. It’s currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 29, 2016.
