‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Star Theo Rossi Joins The Netflix’s Marvel Series ‘Luke Cage’

Netflix’s upcoming series Luke Cage is adding more stars to its growing list of cast members. According to Deadline, Sons of Anarchy star Theo Rossi is the newest member of the show and has been added as a regular to the new Marvel-based series.

Luke Cage centers on the story of a man who is given superhuman strength as the result of a botched science experiment. After being convicted of a crime he did not commit, Cage breaks out of jail and begins life as a paid superhero.

Mike Colter is starring as the lead role in the series, which is the third Marvel Comics show to be released by Netflix in recent years. As fans may recall, Netflix released Daredevil back at the beginning of the year, and the streaming service is also planning on airing Jessica Jones this coming fall.

Meanwhile, details concerning Rossi’s role in Luke Cage are still unknown. Although some are speculating that Rossi will be playing a cunning and streetwise character named Sonny, it appears as though the Sons of Anarchy alum might be set to play the villain in the series and Cage’s main opponent, named Shades.

Shades, who also goes by the name Alvarez, is an eminent crime boss in Cage’s world. Beyond that, little else is known concerning the character and how he will come against Cage. For his part, Rossi is best known for his role as Juice on the hit biker drama, Sons of Anarchy, in which he starred alongside Charlie Hunnam.

In addition to Rossi and Colter, the new series will also feature Rosario Dawson. According to the Wrap, Dawson will be starring in the new series as Claire Temple, which is the same role she played in on Netflix’s other Marvel series, Daredevil.

With Netflix releasing several new series based in the Marvel Universe, there will be some crossover between the shows. In fact, in addition to Dawson’s character being in both Daredevil and Luke Cage, Cage is expected to make an appearance in the upcoming Jessica Jones series, starring Krysten Ritter. That being said, it isn’t clear on how large a story arc Rossi’s character will get in the upcoming series and whether or not he’ll be included in any other shows.

Luke Cage, which is being produced by Marvel Television, ABC Studios, and Netflix, is expected to premiere sometime in 2016.

It has also been rumored that Theo Rossi may make an appearance in the Sons of Anarchy prequel or spin-off, although those rumors have yet to be confirmed.
