Corie Blount, Former NBA Player could face 10 years for Drug Possession


Corie Blount, Former NBA player and University of Cincinnati basketball star will be sentenced on marijuana charges that could put him in prison for up to 10 years.

Corie Blount Sentenced Wednesday

Corie Blount was sentenced Wednesday in Ohio’s Butler County, more than a month after he pled guilty to two counts of felony drug possession. During plea bargaining, prosecutors dropped the more serious charges of traficking.

Blount was arrested Dec. 4, 2008 after sheriff’s deputies intercepted an 11 pound marijuana shipment sent to him at a relative’s house. Police investigators say they found another 18 pounds in a later search of Corie Blount’s home.

Corie Blount was a first-round draft pick by the Chicago Bulls in 1993 and played for several other teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors during an 11-year NBA career.
