11-Year-Old Shoots Intruder In Missouri, Shooting Of Lamonte Streeter Wasn’t Self Defense? [Video]

If an 11-year-old shoots intruder burglars in self defense, then the only crime committed was by the home invaders. But some neighbors are disputing the Missouri shooting, claiming 16-year-old Lamonte Streeter’s death is not as simple as it first appears.

In a related report by the Inquisitr, initial reports claimed that the 11-year-old and his little 4-year-old sister were the only ones at home when Lamonte Streeter allegedly tried to break into their house with the help of 22-year-old Stevieon Jackson. According to the police, it is not the first time that the teenager tried to break in, as the young boy and his sister had previously staved off several home invasion attempts by the intruding teenager.

“Earlier in the day, two subjects had apparently approached the residence, that same residence where the male was found deceased, on a couple separate occasions, however, never actually gained entry into the home,” St. Louis County Police Sgt. Brian Schellman explained.

The mother had apparently bought the gun after the previous break-in attempts, but had left the two kids home alone with access to the weapon. The mother is cooperating with the investigation.

“It’s troubling to say the least and shows that too many young people have access to handguns and the results are usually tragic,” Sgt. Brian Schellman said.

The neighbors do not believe this account of the Missouri shooting and insist that the 11-year-old shot the other teen after inviting Streeter onto the porch. According to CBS, one neighbor said, “I’ve never heard of him breaking in nobody’s house, you know, cause we would keep our eyes out if that was true, you know.”

Neighbor Donna Jackson said she saw the 11-year-old shoot the 16-year-old at point blank range as they talked at the front door.

“It was not a break-in,” Jackson, 45, said. “He shot him in the head.”

Jazmyne Clark claims Lamonte Streeter was attempting to sell the 11-year-old a phone.

“He was never in the house,” Clark said. “He wasn’t breaking in at all. He was just trying to sell him his phone.”

Detective have said that Lamonte Streeter’s body was found inside the home, not the front porch.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Sharon Taylor, the 11-year-old shooter’s relative, says the young boy is “very respectful,” but also dispute that a home invasion occurred.

“I don’t believe someone would come through the front door at this time of day,” Taylor said.

Clark also claimed that the 11-year-old shooter had once robbed her family’s home and had been showing off the gun earlier in the week.

“He was pointing it at kids in the neighborhood, he was pointing it at everybody who came up on our porch,” she claimed, according to KPLR.

When asked about the differing witnesses accounts related to the Missouri shooting, St. Louis police said they are still investigating.

“Obviously the investigation is extremely early,” Schellman said. “Many, many interviews have to be conducted. We would urge more strongly than anything, that anyone up there who has pertinent information about the case, we have to hear from them. Until we’ve talked to everybody, I don’t know if we can contradict or back off of [the home invasion account] right now.”

Stevieon Jackson was arrested on suspicion of burglary. Lamonte Streeter’s family says everything being said by the neighbors are rumors, but they want to know exactly what happened during the Missouri shooting.
