Washington Redskins Rumors: These Five Teams Are Likely Destinations For Robert Griffin III If Traded

Robert Griffin III has been plagued by injuries since being drafted by the Washington Redskins, and he doesn’t seem to be getting any better. His latest concussion issue shelved him for the rest of the preseason, and now Kirk Cousins has been named the week one starter against the Miami Dolphins. With that, it appears as if RG3 is on his way out via trade, and there are five likely destinations for him.

ESPN looked to their NFL experts to see where it was possible for Griffin to be traded, but it’s also possible that he could end up being released. All the NFL teams need to get their rosters down to a mandatory 53-players by Saturday afternoon, and the Redskins could end up cutting their ties with Griffin completely.

Only five teams out of the other 31 seem possible locations for Griffin to land, and that’s not even a given.

Philadelphia Eagles – Even though they’ve got an abundance of quarterbacks, Chip Kelly loves flash and speed. RG3 has both of those things when he’s healthy, and there is still the potential for excellence if Griffin can stay on the field.

New York Giants – Eli Manning has not missed a single game in his career, and that goes back to 2004. Still, there has not been a really reliable backup quarterback on the Giants in years, and Griffin could fill that role.

Chicago Bears – One never knows which Jay Cutler is going to step out onto the field, and this could be the season that the Bears give up on him if he doesn’t produce.

Buffalo Bills – EJ Manuel has been on the bubble for the Bills, but he will still likely start the season on the roster by backing up Tyrod Taylor. Still, head coach Rex Ryan is never against surprising everyone and bringing in RG3 would do just that.

Cleveland BrownsJohnny Manziel and Robert Griffin III on one team? It’s possible and not a horribly bad idea, but it sure does seem like a lot of drama that may not be what any head coach or general manager wants.

USA Today is reporting that Friday is the day of reckoning for Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins, and it’s believed that there are five reasons he will be cut.

1. They don’t want him
2. The Friday before Labor Day is a great time for a news dump
3. It’s common sense
4. It’s the right thing to do for all involved
5. It hurts RG3 the most

Robert Griffin III’s time with the Washington Redskins is all but officially done, and he’s going to be either cut or traded before too long. The teams that he could end up with seems logical, but one never knows with the NFL.
