Emily Ratajkowski Wants No Further Mention Of ‘Blurred Lines,’ Calls The Music Video ‘The Bane Of Her Existence’

Emily Ratajkowski shot to fame when she danced topless in a Robin Thicke music video called “Blurred Lines.” Three years later, Emily wants everyone to shut up about it. Emily Ratajkowski’s exclusive interview with InStyle during her October photo-shoot with the UK-based magazine says as much.

“I wasn’t into the idea at all at first. I think I came off as a bit annoyed in the video. Now, it’s the bane of my existence. When anyone comes up to me about ‘Blurred Lines,’ I’m like, are we seriously talking about a video from three years ago?”

Emily Ratajkowski has a point. Her appearance in the racy Robin Thicke music video has made her an overnight sensation, but in the intervening time since then, Emily has more than earned her stripes as a model-turned-actress. She appeared in 2014 as the wayward mistress to Ben Affleck in David Fincher’s movie adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s book, Gone Girl. A year later, Emily followed it up with an appearance in Entourage and a leading role opposite Zac Efron in the musical drama We Are Your Friends.

Emily Ratajkowski is a talented actress, but it can’t be denied that her sex appeal and killer bod are part of her allure. There’s no question that her much-talked-about nude scenes in Gone Girl have propped up her celebrity status. Be that as it may, many of Ratajkowski’s past interviews suggest that she didn’t do nude scenes to boost her popularity. To Emily, nudity isn’t such a big deal. She said so in her interview with InStyle.

“It’s weird to me that the reaction to a woman’s naked body is so controversial in our culture. My mum taught me to never apologise for my sexuality. My dad never made me feel embarrassed. I also don’t think I’ve ever had an awareness of my own body as being super-sexual. It was always just my body.”

In that same interview, the 24-year-old Emily Ratajkowski proved that there’s more to her than being just that hot-brunette-chick-who-danced-naked-in-Blurred Lines.

I’m not looking to play the pretty-girl type that you would expect from a model turned actress. I want to surprise people. Maybe play the weird girl. It takes fighting for, which I’m prepared to do.

And Emily did surprise everyone when she appeared all covered-up in her InStyle cover photo-shoot. Clad in Victorian goth wear, Emily Ratajkowski didn’t show much skin. But – as per her usual – Emily Ratajkowski looked sexy as all get out.
