‘Orphan Black’ Star Tatiana Maslany Teases A New Mystery

Some fans feel that seasons 2 and 3 of Orphan Black have gotten away from the elements that made the first season of Orphan Black such an overwhelming success, and, according to Christian Post, the series will be getting back to that in its fourth season. More specifically, Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany has promised more mystery and less of the complex story weaving that could, at times, have seemed confusing to some fans.

“The only thing I know for sure is that it will feel like the pace of Season 1. It will have that sort of mystery,” Orphan Black‘s Maslany said.

While the specifics are not being revealed and may not be completely hashed out even among the Orphan Black creative team, it has been revealed that the general idea for seasons 4 and 5 have been set in stone. Even the fate of Tatiana’s Orphan Black character(s) have been decided.

“When we talk to Tatiana creatively, it’s about honoring the characters, especially the new characters, and about finishing the story. Because we know where this baby ends.”

One might wonder why Orphan Black‘s executives are so interested in Maslany’s input, but, truthfully, Tatiana’s opinion has always been highly valued, even before she was promoted to series producer last season. As it turns out, some of Orphan Black‘s most popular clones were Maslany’s own creations, reports Movie Pilot.

“I was riffing on an imitation on set, and Graeme said, ‘We need to make that a clone.’ She’s a naive clone. We don’t realize that when we meet [Crystal]. She’s doing Delphine’s nails and she’s a bit of an airhead—not quite there, not quite grounded.”

The promotion of Maslany to producer couldn’t have come at a better time for the Orphan Black star. Tatiana was recently nominated for an Emmy award, something which many of her fans feel has been long overdue. Even Maslany’s colleagues feel she is uniquely deserving of the award, but Tatiana is more concerned with future projects and new opportunities.

“Everybody wants me so badly to want an Emmy nomination. I just want to work on a cool movie with Paul Thomas Anderson, or I want to work with a cool actor like Jake Gyllenhaal,” Ms. Maslany said. “That means something to me. The fans can have the Emmy. I wish I could give the Emmy to the fans. They’ve literally have given us wings on this show.”

The Orphan Black season premiere is scheduled for May 2016 on BBC America.
