‘Metal Gear Solid 5’ Collector’s Edition Features Bonus Episode Cut From Regular Version

All Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain collector’s edition owners will be glad to know that they are holding a gold piece in their hands.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has just shipped out and millions of Metal Gear Solid fans are already hyped about the release. In fact, Metal Gear Solid 5 is already rated 10/10 by huge game critics, GameSpot and IGN, and by Steam itself. But Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain collector’s edition owners will be more than happy to know that their copy of the game will include exclusive footage that has not made it into the regular version.

The Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain collector’s edition ships with a Blu-Ray disc that contains all released in-game trailers, plus bonus behind-the-scenes. To add icing to this sweet deal, GameSpot found out that the Metal Gear Solid 5 collector’s edition also includes an exclusive story episode that wasn’t completed for the regular version of Metal Gear Solid 5.

Reluctant to spoil the story to those who wants to see it for themselves, VG24/7 reveals that the unseen footage was intended to be episode number 51 entitled, “Kingdom of the Flies.” It’s obvious that the exclusive Metal Gear Solid 5 episode didn’t make it into the cut since it’s told only with half-finished cut scenes and storyboard illustrations. However, the Metal Gear Solid 5 episode 51 is fully-voiced, making it understandable to the gamers.

What’s special about the never-before-seen Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain episode is that it features story elements that would possibly tie The Phantom Pain to the upcoming titles in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, since it goes deeper into the motivations of Metal Gear Solid 5 characters Liquid Snake and Big Boss.

The Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain collector’s edition went into pre-order months before Metal Gear Solid 5 released, and retailers ran out within hours of its announcement. As of now, the collector’s edition is out of stock on major online retailers like GameStop and Amazon, but a lot of people are selling used and new copies of the Metal Gear Solid 5 collector’s edition on eBay for prices higher than it should be selling. If you can spare a few bucks to get your hands on the Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain collector’s edition to access the goodies, then eBay will be your best bet.
