Emmy Rossum And Her Main Man Sam Esmail Are Engaged!

Emmy Rossum is engaged! The 28-year-old star of Shameless and Phantom of the Opera made it official over the weekend, saying “Yes!” to her boyfriend of two years, Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, Just Jared is reporting.

Although neither Emmy nor Sam has publicly commented on their engagement, as of this post, Emmy’s rep confirmed the engagement.

“[Emmy and Sam] became engaged over the weekend in Los Angeles. The couple has been dating for two years.”

The happy couple met back in 2014, according to MSN, on the set of Comet, which Esmail directed and Rossum starred in.

This will be the second marriage for Emmy Rossum; she was married to Justin Siegel for less than two years, before getting divorced in 2010. Afterwards, Emmy talked to Cosmo about tying the knot again.

“I hope I do. Honestly, I was so young, I don’t think I knew what marriage meant. My parents were never married, and I was teased in school and called a bastard. So the idea of marriage as safety forever was idealized in my head, and we rushed into it.”

Not long after Emmy and Sam started dating, she spoke to Cosmo again, this time talking about the kind of man she prefers to date.

“I don’t gravitate to the jock; it’s the nerdy guy in the corner. I’m dating a writer now [Sam Esmail]. Writers are sexy.”

Throughout their relationship, the couple has spent most of their time being impossibly cute, which Sam documents on his Instagram feed.

“730 days”

“Makes total sense”

On both Emmy’s and Sam’s Instagram feeds, fans of the couple have used the social media platform to wish congratulate the happy couple… and other, not-so-happy sentiments.

“Congratulations on your engagement to the most perfect woman= the most talented, perfect couple ever!!! Emmy Rossum’s probably my biggest role model as she’s my acting inspiration and more importantly, has got the most beautiful soul and I’m so excited to see that she’s found one to match! I wish you both a lifetime of happiness!!!!!”

“Boo! No congrats on that engagement. You off the market=sadness.”

“congrats on your engagement emmy!”

“Congrats on your engagement!! Any pix or a video of the moment?!”

“Congrats on engagement and creating the best show on TV right now”
