‘Game Of Thrones’: Potential New Cast Announcement For Season 6

Another rumor surrounding the secretive season 6 of HBO’s Game of Thrones has come to light recently. It seems we might have another cast member announcement to make. This rumor also ties in with the previous one we reported on earlier today.

WARNING: This article contains rumors and potential spoilers in relation to both the television and book series of Game of Thrones. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

As was reported on The Inquisitr earlier today, a potential location identity may hold the key to an upcoming plot line in season 6 of Game of Thrones. If rumors from the Game of Thrones fansite, Watchers on the Wall are correct, filming is currently taking place in and around the Irish town of Ballintoy. The reason this location is particularly telling for fans of the Game of Thrones books is the fact Carrick-a-Rede bridge is there. And this bridge bears a striking resemblance to where Balon Greyjoy dies in the books. While it is unclear yet who was responsible for the death of Balon Greyjoy, there are a couple of suspects.

Rumor has it that actor Pilou Asbæk will play Eron Greyjoy in Season 6 of HBO's Game of Thrones

According to Vanity Fair, there are two suspects. Firstly, one of the “faceless men” we learned about in season 5 of Game of Thrones. Secondly, Balon’s brother, Euron Greyjoy. And, if the recent reports from Watchers on the Wall is correct, HBO have cast Pilou Asbæk to play Euron Greyjoy. As Den of Geek points out, with the dreary Balon Greyjoy out of the way, it will give Euron’s “more lively disposition” a chance to shine.

Watchers on the Wall claim scenes were shot in Ballintoy, Northern Ireland recently with Pilou Asbæk present during filming. According to their unidentified source, the scene involved “a crowd cheering for Euron.”

At the moment all of this is mere hearsay as HBO is refusing to confirm any of the casting rumors and are trying to keep a tight wrap on the upcoming season 6 storylines for Game of Thrones. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from wondering about what will happen in season 6. And, considering Balon Greyjoy dies in book 3 of the series by George R.R. Martin, his death is well and truly overdue.

As yet, Pilou Asbæk has made no public statement in regards to his potential casting. Neither has his name been listed on the Game of Thrones IMDb page.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO for season 6 in 2016.
