Three suspects are on the loose in Lake County, Illinois after they shot a police officer Tuesday morning. According to the New York Daily News, the Illinois police officer called in that he was with three suspicious men, two white males and one black male, and had to chase them before his radio went silent. A fellow officer found him with a gunshot wound.

The Illinois police officer was shot near Route 12 and Sayton Road in Illinois, near a Walgreens and a “Welcome to Fix Lake” sign. The police reported that there were at least two suspects, and they were considered armed and dangerous.

Lake County Sheriff Sgt. Chris Covelli said, “At this point, this is a two-pronged investigation.”

Sgt. Covelli did not give details on the condition of the Illinois officer, only saying that he was injured. A press conference was held in regards to the wounded Illinois police officer, but detectives did not give many details on why the officer had to pursue the suspects and declined to answer questions at the press conference.

The Illinois police officer was shot just days after a Texas deputy was killed on Friday. Shannon J. Miles will be charged with capital murder after shooting the uniformed Harris County Deputy, Darren Goforth, multiple times from behind while he was pumping gas.
