Cara Delevingne: ‘I Prefer To Be Naked, What Can I Say?’

Before she launched her acting career, Cara Delevingne was an up-and-coming fashion model and, although Ms. Delevingne has said that it wasn’t something she enjoyed doing, there can be no denying Cara was successful and alluring in so many of her ads. Featured in ads for big name companies like Burberry, Yves Saint Laurent, and Chanel, it might be surprising to learn that Ms. Delevingne is no fan of fashion.

In fact, when it’s pointed out to Cara that she has basically become the “poster child” for fashion, at least as far as some of these big names are concerned, Ms. Delevingne retorts with the age-old I-was-just-doing-my-job routine, adding, “Doesn’t mean I care about it.”

Cara considers her response to the Daily Record more carefully, before she adds a slight clarification.

“I care enough. I know a lot of people who aren’t in the fashion industry who care about fashion a lot more than I do,” Ms. Delevingne says. “I like clothes, just not all the time. I prefer to be naked, what can I say?”

In that case, it might seem as though Cara is enjoying the best of both worlds in the latest Yves Saint Laurent ad campaign in which Delevingne is draped in a black tuxedo jacket and nothing else.

Speaking of outward appearances, Cara worries that people will equate her wealthy upbringing and private education with a sense of entitlement, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Ms. Delevingne, along with sisters Poppy, 28, and Chloe, 31, spent much of their childhoods in boarding schools due to the troubled relationship they shared with their heroine-addicted mother, Pandora.

Known as a fashion buyer and a one-time socialite, Pandora Delevingne spent much of Cara’s teen years in one rehab or another, reports the Mirror.

Helping Cara to move beyond her family’s troubled past, there’s no denying St. Vincent has had a positive effect on Ms. Delevingne.

“Being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days,” Cara gushed.

Ms. Delevingne stresses the importance of friendship, whether they be old school chums or the new acquaintances she has made during her journey as an actress.

“Friends are family to me in so many ways,” Cara says. “I still have all my old best friends I’ve had since school, but along the way I’ve managed to meet a lot of amazing, incredible, inspiring people. We go through the same thing, and it’s nice to have people to rely on.”

Ms. Delevingne shares her desire to stay in touch with those friends as often as possible.

“I speak to a bunch of people every day,” said Ms. Delevingne. “From my oldest friends like Georgia (May Jagger) and Suki (Waterhouse), to Jourdan (Dunn) to Dakota (Johnson), or Kendall (Jenner), or you know, any of them. I’ll call pretty much every day. I FaceTime Taylor (Swift) every week.”
