El Chapo Guzman’s Cartel Luxury Cars Impounded

El Chapo Guzman shocked the world when he escaped from a maximum prison in Mexico via a mile-long tunnel in July this year. That said, El Chapo’s escape was a big embarrassment to the government as it was confident that he would never be able to escape for a second time.

Citing attorney general Jesus Murillo Karam, he had in January indicated that he would not extradite El Chapo to the United States until he had completed his sentence in Mexico, which would basically be after hundreds of years. The following was his exact statement, according to the Guardian.

“I could accept extradition but at the time that I choose. El Chapo must stay here to complete his sentence and then I will extradite him. So about 300 or 400 years later — it will be a while.”

This was while speaking to the Associated Press.

Just a few days ago, the chief of Escobar’s gang of assassins, Jhon Jairo Velásquez Vásquez, estimated that it would only take 16 to 18 months for the Mexican government to close in on El Chapo. He also pointed out that El Chapo will most likely be killed if found as another escape would be an insurmountable public relations disaster for the Mexican government. This was during an interview with Proceso, a Mexican magazine.

The following were his words as reported by Business Insider.

“He knows he has to be killed, because if they capture him alive, they will extradite him to the US. And he will not tolerate a high-security prison in the US. There the food they give [is eaten with] a straw, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Nobody talks to you; there is no human contact. If somebody sends you a letter, they show it to you on a television screen.”

However, it seems the government has already begun taking serious steps against the Sinaloa cartel run by El Chapo Guzman. According to Imt Online, over 30 motorcycles and luxury cars belonging to various crime groups in Culiacan, Sinaloa were impounded in a week following a number of raids in the area. Some of the vehicles confiscated include a Jeep Sahara, numerous Mercedes Benz cars, and a Ducati. This is not to mention an arsenal of military grade arms.

Sinaloa is alleged to be the headquarters of the infamous Sinaloa Cartel, headed by El Chapo Guzman. The raids are said to have been carried out in conjunction with SEIDO, a specialist organized crime investigation unit.
