Carlos PenaVega & Alexa PenaVega Join ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Cast As First Married Couple To Compete


Carlos PenaVega and his wife Alexa PenaVega have joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars as the first married couple to take compete on the show.

According to ABC News, Carlos announced that he and his wife had signed on for the 21st season of the famous dancing competition on Instagram on Thursday, August 27.

“Beyond excited that @vegaalexa and I are going to be competing this season on #season21 @dancingabc,” Carlos wrote alongside a photo of him and Alexa standing beside Minnie and Mickey Mouse in front of the castle in Magic Kingdom. “Spending 24 hours at @disneyland #disneyland60 to celebrate!!!”

The spouses will be both be paired with a separate professional dance partner, but the names of those partners will not be revealed until the entire cast is announced on Good Morning America on Tuesday, September 2. The new season of Dancing with the Stars will premiere on ABC on Monday, September 14.

“It’s so exciting,” Alexa, who celebrated her birthday yesterday told Entertainment Tonight’s Cameron Mathison. “It’s beautiful, it’s overwhelming, it’s an incredible blessing.”

Alexa first rose to fame by playing in the Spy Kids films when she was only 12 years old. Carlos is best known for being a member of the boy band Big Time Rush. The couple started dating in 2012 and then married in 2014.

According to a previous report by the Inquisitr, Carlos and Alexa tied-the-knot on Saturday, January 4, 2014, during an intimate ceremony in Peurto Vallarta, Mexico.

“We are so thrilled and blessed that we were able to have all of our close friends and family join us on our special day,” the couple said in a statement following their nuptials.

Alexa was previously married to movie producer Sean Covel. They were married in 2010 when she was only 21-years-old and he was 33. Alexa and Carlos started dating around the time her marriage to Covel had ended.

Although they will be competing against one another for the mirror-ball trophy, the pair said they are determined to support each other throughout the process.

“It’s so good, though, because he literally rehearses right next door,” Alexa said. “So he’ll walk over to me and he’ll just give me a kiss. It’s just so encouraging. He is my teammate and my life partner, so I like that encouragement. I need it.”
