Nicholas Brendon Walks Off The Set Of ‘Dr. Phil’
Nicholas Brendon of Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been battling addiction for the last few years. Dr. Phil McGraw reached out to him so that he could bring Nicholas on the show and help him out, but it turns out that things did not go as planned. Us Weekly Magazine has now revealed that Nicholas actually walked off the set of the show and Brendon is sharing what pushed him to that point.
Brendon’s version of the story is that he felt like Dr. Phil was being hard on him when discussing his recent arrests. Nicholas put up a statement on his Facebook page revealing that he knows that Dr. Phil has helped a lot of people, but then went on to explain why he didn’t stick around.
“When I was in that seat, I felt that Dr. Phil went for the jugular, talking about some of my recent mistakes, with no build up. I felt that he wanted me to lay the darkest parts of myself on national TV right from the start, and I’m not willing to do that.”
Nicholas Brendon wasn’t willing to let Dr. Phil go right into talking about the hard stuff and wanted some kind of lead up. His side of the story reveals an interview that according to Dr. Phil’s spokesperson never even happened. They shared that Brendon actually never even made it to the interview and left before it started without any drama at all. They did go ahead and complete the episode without Nicholas so it is going to be interesting to see how Dr. Phil figured that one out.
In May, Us Weekly Magazine revealed that Nicholas Brendon had been arrested for the third time in 2015. This arrest was for public intoxication. In February, he was arrested for trashing a hotel room and not wanting to pay the bill for the damages that occurred. One month later he was arrested for a similar case. Brendon was also arrested back in 2014 for injury to property.
Dr. Phil has not revealed if he plans to invite Nicholas Brendon back for another interview. During one of his rough times, Nicholas reached out to Dr. Drew on Twitter and asked if he would give him a call. Hopefully he is getting help of some kind, even if it is not from being on The Dr. Phil Show and discussing his issues in front of the world. Brendon did say that he is getting private treatment without elaborating on how or where.
