ABC News has reported that Former President George W. Bush endorsed Mitt Romney on Tuesday in his run for President of the United States. Romney is the presumptive nominee for the Republican nomination to take on President Obama in the fall.

When asked who he endorsed for President George W. Bush told an ABC reporter, as an elevator door was closing, that he endorsed Romney. The 43rd President was getting on the elevator after he gave a speech in Washington D.C.

Bush told the reporter,

“I’m for Mitt Romney,”

The entire Bush clan has endorsed Mitt Romney for President. Over the last few months Romney has been endorsed by Former President George H.W. Bush (W’s father), Former First Lady Barbara Bush (W’s Mother) and Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush (W’s Brother).

Romney was asked about a possible endorsement by Bush in March. Romney responded at the time by saying,

“I haven’t met with President George W. Bush. We speak from time to time,”

The Associated Press also noted that an endorsement by George W. Bush could wind up being a bigger liability than most realize. They wrote,

“While largely unspoken, both sides acknowledge that Republicans would be best served by not reminding voters of the Bush legacy of gaping budget deficits, two wars and record low approval ratings. His eight-year presidency has merited no more than a fleeting reference from Romney and his rivals in debates, campaign stops and interviews.”

Andrea Mitchell asked Romney adviser Kevin Madden about the endorsement Tuesday on MSNBC.

Madden responded,

“Sure! We’ve always said that we were happy to have George W. Bush,”
