Jersey Doctor Sells His Conventional Practice For Organic Farm, Uses ‘Food As Medicine’ To Treat Patients

In the United States today, there is a major debate in medicine which often pits conventional means against alternatives. For the green community, they are in major support of the latter, claiming natural remedies have a far better success rate over their conventional counterpart. Not only that, the green community claims said conventional means actually do more damage than good. As an example, James Jeffrey Bradstreet claims vaccinations are the cause of numerous children having autism.

As of now, the argument generally remains among conventional and alternative doctors. For a Jersey doctor however, he has shown his support for organics when he sold his conventional practice to grow an organic farm. He then uses organic food to treat patients.

Apparently, for the last 25 years, Dr. Ronald Weiss has been taking care of Hudson County’s sickest residents. For the majority of those years, Weiss worked conventionally by writing out prescriptions and ordering surgery. Now, he is known for recommending a daily dose of whatever is growing on his farm, as reported by True Jersey. The 348-acre, 18th century farm is used as part of New Jersey’s first farm-based practice, Ethos Health. Using the philosophy that organic foods are real medicine, it grows a myriad fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, beans, and seeds. And by how Weiss explains food, it surely does sound like medicine.

“There are so many naturally occurring drugs on this plate. Plant-based whole foods are the most powerful disease-modifying tools available to practitioners — more powerful than any drugs or surgeries.”

However, Robert Weiss made sure to cover himself, explaining that his organic methods are meant to treat illnesses and diseases. He is not saying physical ailments can be resolved with plant tinctures, as reported by AltHealthWorks.

“I am not saying if you fall down and break your ankle, I can fix it by putting a salve of mugwort on it. You need someone to fix your fracture. I am talking about treating and preventing chronic disease — the heart attacks, the strokes, the cardiovascular disease, the cancers … the illnesses that are taking our economy and our nation down.”

Despite many of his peers criticizing his work, Robert Weiss does know what he is doing. Weiss has studied countless hours on organic food for his practice. Also, not everyone is partaking to Weiss’ method 100 percent in which he says an 80 percent commitment yields 80 percent results. For Weiss, that is absolutely fine given the fact that 80 percent is still favorable. Even Weiss himself isn’t technically committed 100 percent to his plan because once a year, he looks forward to indulging his taste buds to a hot pastrami sandwich.
