Duggar Family: Josh Likely At Treatment Facility Similar To One He Visited Before

Duggar family matriarch Michelle Duggar posted a statement on her blog on Wednesday concerning her eldest son Josh, saying he had entered a long-term treatment facility in order to seek help for his indiscretions. Now, reports indicate that it may be a facility similar to the one he visited after his family discovered he had sexually molested two of his sisters.

The story broke in May when police reports from the abuse were made available online. The incidents happened when Josh Duggar was 14-years-old, and he was reportedly sent to a Christian recovery center for several weeks at the time. No charges were filed.

Last week, the news broke that Josh had not one but two accounts on the cheating site Ashley Madison, which was hacked recently. The hackers leaked the personal information — including email addresses and account types — of millions of users, and Josh Duggar was one of those. According to Gawker, Duggar is now very likely in a place a lot like that one — namely, Reformers Unanimous, which lists prescription medication, post-rape depression, eating disorders, and pornography addiction as afflictions they can cure.

Michelle Duggar — or the person operating her blog — wrote on Wednesday that the Duggar family hopes for “repentance” on Josh’s behalf.

“Yesterday Josh checked himself into a long-term treatment center. For him it will be a long journey toward wholeness and recovery. We pray that in this he comes to complete repentance and sincere change,” the statement reads.

The Duggar family also expressed disappointment in Josh within their statement, saying he has brought “shame” to their faith. While they have not been extremely vocal about the sexual abuse scandal, they did allegedly tell his wife, Anna, something about the molestation before she married Josh. In fact, their openness about it was one of the reasons she says she decided to go through with the wedding.

The family took time to thank their loyal fans — a group which has been steadily dwindling since the sexual abuse news came to light — in their most recent statement, admitting he had insulted their values.

“We are so thankful for the outpouring of love, care and prayers for our family during this most difficult situation with Josh. As parents we are so deeply grieved by our son’s decisions and actions. His wrong choices have deeply hurt his precious wife and children and have negatively affected so many others. He has also brought great insult to the values and faith we hold dear.”
