Justin Bieber To Perform New Single & More On ‘Today’ Show Concert Series

Justin Bieber will performing a set of hits on the Today show on Thursday, September 10.

NBC’s Today show announced Bieber’s return to the Plaza will mark the end of summer concert series for the year.

It’s been confirmed that Bieber will play five songs — including his new single “What Do You Mean?” — during his live, televised set. The showcase will be the singer’s fifth Today show concert.

Bieber’s upcoming plaza show comes amid the 21-year-old superstar’s comeback to the career. The Canadian’s single “What Do You Mean” will be officially released for digital purchase tomorrow (August 28) and streamed on various platforms.

The song is the lead cut from the singer’s anticipated fourth studio album, which arrives on November 13. Bieber kicked off his 30-day, celebrity-assisted countdown to the single’s arrival on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show last month.

To date, the lineup of stars has included Steven Tyler, Alanis Morissette, Chris Martin, Kate Hudson, Ben Stiller, Ed Sheeran, Kendall Jenner, Michael Buble, Travi$ Scott, and many more.

Today reports the singer made his morning TV debut on the show six years ago in 2009. The outlet went on to post a tweet including a performance throwback GIF seemingly incorrectly dated as 2011.

Earlier this month, Today co-anchors Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie teased “What Do You Mean?” on the show.

Meanwhile, yesterday MTV confirmed Bieber will perform “What Do You Mean” at the 2015 Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Sunday, August 30. The singer is also booked to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on September 2.

The VMAs 2015 will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday, August 30, from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

And the promo trail continues. On the same day his new single drops, the Biebs will swing by On Air with Seacrest, despite Page Six’s recent dubious claims.

Also, on Friday: Bieber’s pre-taped radio interview with New York host Elvis Duran will air. Quotes from the interview rolled out via Us Weekly magazine. Among the highlights so far, the singer revealed he has trust issues as a result of being burned by unnamed, former pals during his drama-filled 2013-2014. He now says it taught him whom to trust and whom not to.

“Trusting people is hard, especially for me,” Bieber dished. “I’ve trusted people who I probably shouldn’t have trusted before and they’ve hurt my heart. I’m a pretty sensitive guy, so I’ll lay it all on the line, and they’ll kind of pull it. So now I’m figuring out there’s certain people I can’t do that with.”

However, the singer is aware he can’t let past hurts stop him from moving forward and offered advice to others.

“Here’s what I’ll tell the people,” Bieber told Duran. “Don’t let someone who ruined your trust ruin that next person’s chance to gain that trust. I think I let that affect me and change the way I looked at people for a while.”
