Clubs In ‘The Sims 4’ Give Sims A Way To Create Custom Social Circles Where They Can Act Completely Out Of Character

When the second expansion to The Sims 4 releases in November, players can use “Get Together” to create Clubs of Sims with a specific idea in mind. These groups of Sims will have a leader, currently 10 rules for being in the Club, dress codes, and preferred hangout locations. Club rules will often override a Sim’s normal behavior like being a part of a group can create a groupthink situation. For example, an otherwise shy Sim might break out of their shell and flirt endlessly with potential dates around them if part of a flirtatious Club.

The new game mechanic gives specific Sims a way to completely act differently from their traits or aspirations. Clubs in The Sims 4 also add a layer of gameplay similar to the social circles found in the “University” expansion of The Sims 3. Players will be able group up a number of Sims within a set of Club guidelines that can drastically change the simulation. The rules of the Club will often motivate Sims within the Club toward actions that the Club values rather than the Sim.

In a preview post concerning Clubs on the official website, The Sims 4 developers explain clubs and how detailed they can be. Clubs can allow children, wholly ban them, or be completely comprised of children, for instance. Players will choose where a Club meets, what Club members wear when they meet, and even what Sims do while in a Club.

Clubs in The Sims 4 abide by a set of rules that drive the motivations of the Club. Currently, 10 rules are present for Clubs, with five of those encouraging specific behavior while the other five discouraging other behaviors. Clubs are highly flexible, according to the post, in that one Club can love to fight and generally be mean, but only to members of another specific Club. Moreover, Clubs can revolve around painting, music, or even fixing other Sims’ broken possessions.

It is important to note that a Club’s rules only apply to a Sim when they are actually participating in activities with the Club members. This is presently referred to as being part of a Club Gathering, letting Sims be a part of a Club without it running their life all of the time. Simply put, the Club’s motivations will only dominate a Sim’s actions when in a Club Gathering.

“Get Together,” the second full expansion for The Sims 4 was announced during this year’s Gamescom and later confirmed on The Sims official website. Further details like the new world of Windenburg, the new skills of DJ and dancing, and the new public pool venue are all a part of the expansion. Many of these details where explored by the Inquisitr when “Get Together” was announced.
