Best Buy Reports Excellent Apple Watch Sales

There have been people just waiting for the Apple Watch to fail. A recent article from CNN Money claimed there is more interest in the iPod than there is in the Apple Watch.

“A search on Google (GOOG) Trends comparing five of Apple’s products — iPod, MacBook, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch — reveals that people are searching for the Watch far less than any of the other Apple products. The iPhone is by far Apple’s most-searched product, followed the iPad.”

Of course, calling the Watch a flop based on this report doesn’t take into account a lot of other things, like how much the Apple Watch is selling compared to these products. The Apple Watch has just been made available at select Best Buy stores around the country. According to Business Insider, demand has been great.

“The Apple Watch has been such a strong seller for Best Buy that the company is rolling it out to all 1,050 of its stores by the end of September, up from 100 stores this month.”

Business Insider goes on to note that Best Buy is expanding their Apple “store within a store” section, where the electronics retailer sets up a specialized area to display Apple products. Best Buy currently has a Samsung section in almost all of their stores.

Despite the bad publicity, many users have found the Apple Watch to be very useful. Even though NDTV Gadgets believes the Watch is something you want more than something you absolutely need, they were still fascinated by Apple’s latest device.

“If you have an iPhone and if you want a smartwatch, then you’d want to buy an Apple Watch…The Apple Watch feels very polished for a first generation device and its trade-offs (battery life, lags) are minor and shouldn’t stop you from buying the device.”

According to AppleInsider, 97 percent of Watch buyers are satisfied with their device – that’s a higher percentage than the first iPhone or first iPad. The main problem seems to be the Watch’s dependence on the iPhone for just about everything. However, future generations of the Apple Watch may change that and may entice a lot more customers.

Apple is expected to unleash the watchOS 2 operating system in September. According to Apple’s website, the new operating system will offer new interfaces, a better email app, and other capabilities. Do you own an Apple Watch? Tell us what you think of Apple’s wrist device in the comments section.
