Gillian Jacobs, Keegan-Michael Key To Star With ‘Big Bang Theory’ Alum Kate Micucci In New Dramatic Comedy

Gillian Jacobs and Keegan-Michael Key are planning to hit the theater alongside The Big Bang Theory‘s Kate Micucci in an upcoming dramatic comedy. Don’t Think Twice will co-star Mike Birbiglia, who is also directing what could be a realistic look at potential rivalries between up and coming stand-up comics.

After the cancellation of Community, as previously reported by The Inquisitr, she might need this film to help boost her presence in the comedy world.

Don’t Think Twice is the story of a comedy improv group who lose the lease on their home theater just as one of them is chosen to move on to TV. As the news sinks in, bitterness rises and threatens to tear the group apart when they realize that not all of them might make it, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Kate Micucci is arguably the most well-known of the cast, having played the girlfriend of the painfully awkward Rajesh Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar) on The Big Bang Theory. She is also half of the musical comedy act Garfunkel and Oates, known for their whip-smart lyrics and folk sound.

Mike Birbiglia, Gillian Jacobs, and Keegan-Michael Key also have their comedic roots. Keegan-Michael is most known for his role in the sketch comedy series, Key & Peele, which recently saw its final episode. With the latest Vacation, Horrible Bosses 2, and Let’s Be Cops under his proverbial belt, Key has also lent his voice to several animated movies and TV shows such as Robot Chicken and The Lego Movie.

Gillian Jacobs is known for playing the role of Britta Perry on Community, and she has had roles in Hot Tub Time Machine 2, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, and the Monsters Vs Aliens TV series. Don’t Think Twice could be her breakout cinematic role.

Mike Birbiglia has played roles in some of the biggest female-centric comedies in recent history, very different territory from Gillian Jacobs and Keegan-Michael Key. The Reese Witherspoon police movie, Hot Pursuit, the remake of Annie, and Amy Schumer’s breakout film, Trainwreck, are all on his acting resume. He has also been on several TV series, including Orange is the New Black and Inside Amy Schumer.

Philly reports that as producer, director, and actor, Birbiglia is making Don’t Think Twice from his own script. This is his most ambitious project yet, having only directed films about himself until now. Mike is excited about this project and has said it is like a dream for him.

“I’m over the moon about filming this project with this cast, this crew and these producers. Miranda Bailey and the team at Cold Iron and Film Arcade are such a creative and thoughtful bunch of folks. This is exactly what I want to be doing, and I can’t wait for people to see it.”
