Labor Day Weekend 2015 Packed With Events All Over The Country

Labor Day weekend 2015 is packed with events all over the country, making it difficult for anyone to be left with nothing to do on the holiday weekend.

Labor Day was first celebrated in 1882 in New York by the Central Labor Union. The holiday was one of many perks the union was able to obtain through their mass efforts to create better working conditions for the working class. The holiday is still celebrated by millions as a much-needed break from work.

This year, the celebrations won’t disappoint, and there’s something for everyone. Food, outdoor recreation, and live entertainment are aplenty this year, if you know where to look.

Fairs Across the Nation

There will be fairs and festivals held across the nation, some of the biggest events of the year. In Boston, there’s a free Arts Festival and the infamous St. Anthony’s Feast, which celebrates the end of summer and the beginning of the autumn season.

Atlanta is planning a three-day celebration on Labor Day weekend, including live entertainment and fireworks.

Simpsonville, South Carolina, will be hosting Bacon Labor Day, which will feature great food, live entertainment, animal shows, and amusement park rides.

If the West Coast is a little closer to home, check out the Festival of Sail in San Diego, the largest Tail Ship festival on the west coast. At this time, the North Embarcadero is essentially transformed into a nautical theme park, including live pirate shows, great food, arts and crafts, and more.

If traveling isn’t an option this year, there’s likely a fair or festival near you. Check with your local news station for more details.

Free Outdoor Recreation

If you prefer the wide open outdoors to crowded fairs, check out the local recreation in your area. This might be the perfect opportunity to check out a nearby national park, since many national parks, including Yellowstone, Yosemite, Denali, and Shenandoah, waive the park entrance fees on Labor Day.

It’s also the perfect time to catch up on hiking, camping, and fishing at your favorite places. Just remember to play it safe when freestyling your outdoor recreation. It’s easy to get lost or find yourself in a dangerous situation if you’re not careful. Bringing a GPS and taking extra precautions is a simple thing that will go a long way in helping you stay safe and enjoy free outdoor recreation on Labor Day weekend.

Concerts and Shows

Las Vegas is always a hotspot for live shows, and Labor Day weekend is a great time to go. The weekend will be filled with celebrity shows, including Calvin Harris, Chris Brown, Fetty Wap, Lil Wayne, and DJ Hollywood.

If the theatre is more your style, the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., will also be offering free showings of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at five different locations during the first two weeks of September.

There’s something for everyone this upcoming holiday. Labor Day weekend 2015 is packed with events all over the country, and no one should be left staying at home.
