A Caitlyn Jenner costume will hit shelves just in time for Halloween 2015 — and people are outraged. According to the New York Daily News, the I Am Cait star has inspired a costume which reflects her “coming out” look on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine. The report indicates that consumers will be able to purchase a white-hued leotard of sorts, similar to what Caitlyn wore for her photoshoot with the mag. It will also come with a sash that reads, “Call Me Caitlyn,” and a brown wig.

“You probably won’t break any Twitter records when you wear this outfit like Caitlyn did when she first made her account, but you’ll be sure to get a few laughs out of your friends and the other guests at the get together,” reads the costume’s description.

The Caitlyn Jenner costume has caused quite an uproar on social media, as many people feel as though it’s completely inappropriate. While Spirit Halloween stores have said they plan on carrying the costume, there has been a petition created on Change.org that requests the chain to reconsider.

So far, over 4,700 signatures have been collected of the required 5,000.

“We demand that you revoke your ideas and production of a Caitlyn Jenner costume for Halloween. With a reputation of sexist, racist, and culturally appropriative costumes, we are concerned that this costume will continue your oppressive tradition with a transphobic costume of Caitlyn Jenner.”

“Do not turn Cailtyn Jenner into a costume. Your profit will only lead to greater transphobia and marginalization of an already at-risk community.”

Some say that the Caitlyn Jenner costume “celebrates” the 65-year-old transgender woman, who has become a “hero” in 2015. However, most see the idea as a complete mockery, regardless of its creators’ intentions.

Caitlyn Jenner hasn’t commented on the costume at this time. What do you make of the costume idea?
