WWE News: Wrestling Legend Returns On ‘Monday Night Raw’ – Sting Is Back And Attacked Seth Rollins

For the first, and possibly the only time ever, Sting will get the opportunity to wrestle for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. For months, he had been rumored to appear and wrestle at SummerSlam, but those plans ended up scrapped. This evening, he returned to WWE on Monday Night Raw and attacked Seth Rollins, which sets up a possible championship match at Night of Champions.

At SummerSlam, Rollins became the first person to ever hold the WWE Title and United States Title at the same time. All night on Raw, it was being teased that there would be a special celebration at the end of the show to honor him for his accomplishments.

During the show, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon even revealed a giant bronze statue that would be presented to Rollins at the end of the night.

The main event time slot saw the three members of The Authority come out with a huge box cloaked in a black drape. Rollins spoke about beating John Cena last night, now being the man who is on top of WWE.

After a rather good promo, the black drape was lifted into the rafters, but there was no statue. Underneath it was Sting standing there and staring at Seth Rollins who was shocked and taken aback by the appearance of “The Vigilante” as WWE recapped.

Sting ended up hopping off the platform and attacking Seth Rollins and beating him down in the ring. He clotheslined him over the top rope and out to the floor as he backed up near The Authority, per WrestleZone.

At that point, Sting went over into the corner where Rollins had dropped his two titles. Sting picked up the WWE World Heavyweight Title and held it high above his head while pointing at Rollins who was backing up the aisle.

Stephanie McMahon continued to yell “No way! It will never happen!” Sting celebrated and played to the crowd as Monday Night Raw went off the air.

This is likely going to set up the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match for Night of Champions happening in a few weeks. If the match does indeed happen, it will be the first time that Sting has ever challenged for the top title, or any title, in WWE.

Rumor had it that the program between Cena and Rollins was going to last a while. It will be interesting to see if John Cena ends up being thrown into this new feud, but it will also be interesting to see if not only does Sting challenge for his first ever WWE Title, but wins it too.

Monday Night Raw was huge with the debut of a third Wyatt Family member, the return of the Dudley Boyz, and Sting back in WWE. It’s going to lead to a lot of things happening for Night of Champions, and this is just the beginning.
