Chris Bosh may return to the Miami Heat during the 2012 NBA Playoffs, but the Heat will have to advance to the next round in order for that to happen.

Bosh suffered an abdominal sprain during the first game of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals and isn’t expected to return anytime soon. The NY Daily News reports that Bosh is out “indefinitely.” The star forward also said that he doesn’t expect to play during the series against the Indiana Pacers.

Bosh said:

“It’s not the worst thing that could happen. We’ll see how my body responds, but the season has to be extended for me to play again.”

Bosh underwent an MRI today and did get some good news as there was no tear. Manu Ginobli, who suffered a similar injury earlier this year, was out for two weeks. So if Miami can defeat the Pacers, Bosh should be able to return for the Eastern Conference finals.

The Heat still have two all-stars in Lebron James and Dwyane Wade, but Bosh plays an integral part in the team’s strategy. Without Bosh, the Heat were 4-5 this season. Joel Anthony and Rony Turiaf will step into Bosh’s place for the remainder of the Pacers series. Lebron James is also expected to spend a little more time on the post.

Chris Bosh isn’t the first player to be injured during the 2012 post-season. The Chicago Bulls saw both Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah fall to the floor in pain during the first round. The New York Knicks were also forced to play without Iman Shumpert and Baron Davis.

Do you think the Miami Heat will be able to win without Chris Bosh?
