Chilling Moment Alleged Rapist Is Captured On Camera Carrying A Semi-Conscious Woman Before Sexually Assaulting Her

Police recently released CCTV footage that captures the chilling moment an alleged rapist was seen carrying a semi-conscious woman on Tennant Street in Birmingham, reported the Daily Mirror. At around 4 a.m. in October 2014, a 25-year-old woman – who asked to be unnamed – was attacked and raped after leaving Walkabout Bar where she met up with a friend for drinks.

As they were leaving, she and her friend Kevin bumped into the alleged rapist and exchanged words before he carried her away, leaving her friend behind. Minutes after CCTV footage shows the unidentified man carrying her across the street, Birmingham citizens found her in a “distressed state.”

Birmingham police are now searching for Kevin who has dwarfism and appears to be in his 20’s with short, dark hair. Investigators say that he is not a suspect in the case, but they do want him in for questioning to uncover what transpired minutes before the attack.

With the victims’ permission, police were able to release footage of the alleged rapist to help catch her attacker. The back of Kevin’s head was also captured as he stood inside of the Birmingham bar, according to the Daily Mail.

“There will undoubtedly be people who will watch these images and wrongly judge the woman,” said Detective Constable Danette Calvey who is with the West Midlands Police. “It must be remembered that this woman has been attacked and that she has displayed remarkable courage by allowing us to release the footage. She hopes that these new images may jog someone’s memory and that their call may make the difference to her attacker being caught or left to roam the streets.”

The raped victim also reached out and stated that she “implore people to take a good look at the CCTV and focus on the man. Do you recognize him? Were you in the area around the time of the attack? I appreciate it was a long time ago but the situation will have looked very odd and will undoubtedly have stayed with you.”

“I would also appeal to the man in the footage to call me. Please, come forward now. This is your chance to explain. We will not give up on finding the man who carried out the attack. We will also not give up on finding Kevin.”

Investigators asks that if anyone has any information regarding the attack, they are to contact West Midlands Police or crime stoppers anonymously.
