‘DWTS’ Demi Moore, Nick Carter, Jodie Sweetin, Among Names Rumored For Next Season

Dancing With the Stars offered up an impressive cast last season with Rumer Willis, Patti Labelle, Michael Sam, and Suzanne Somers. For the upcoming season, it looks like DWTS is after that same sort of prestige and talent.

According to E! ABC offered a place for Dancing With the Stars champion Rumer Willis’ mother. That’s right, ABC was willing to pay top dollar for movie star Demi Moore, but unfortunately Moore turned them down.

So, who’s in the running to make the cast? While ABC doesn’t comment on casting rumors, it’s said that Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, and Full House star Jodie Sweetin, Alexa Vega have all been approached for the upcoming season.

Sweetin is unable to compete in the show even though she wanted to. Her reason is the shooting schedule for the Netflix series Fuller House, which sees her portraying the role of Stephanie Tanner, the role she was known for for most of the late 80s and 90s.

Other names approached for Dancing With the Stars were Caitlyn Jenner and Rich Shroeder. Both turned down the chance to dance on a weekly basis.

The only confirmation we have is cast member Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late Steve Irwin. The announcement was made on Good Morning America. At the time, Irwin said of the new experience.

“I’m really, really excited and so honored to be a part of this new journey and new chapter of my life. I have to tell you, this is completely different to anything I have ever done in my life. I’m used to wrangling crocodiles!”

Although Demi Moore won’t be on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars, her daughter Rumer, had kind words to say about the process.

“You know, I hope that it stands for all of that and for anyone who didn’t think that they deserved to do something, or couldn’t do something, or wasn’t capable. That is who I think that [this trophy] is for.”

Of her transformation with partner Val Chmerkovskiy, Rumer said, “I feel like I’m a completely different person than the person that he met. He kept asking if I really wanted to do this. [But now, to be] able to stand proudly and put your whole self on the dance floor, and just show who you are and have such a positive response. To see how many people came up to us and were so excited for us — that we won — I think speaks volumes.”

The new season of Dancing With the Stars premieres on September 14.
