Mitchell Guist Of ‘Swamp People’ Dies After Fall On Boat


Mitchell Guist, the star of “Swamp People,” died this morning in Louisiana.

Guist was on his boat in the Belle River when he fell. Local reports say that Guist may have suffered a seizure.

When the boat returned to shore where someone attempted to perform CPR on Guist. The reality show star was then taken to a nearby hospital but was dead upon arrival.

An official cause of death has not been released.

A rep for the History Channel told TMZ:

“We are extremely saddened to report that our friend and beloved member of the Swamp People family, Mitchell Guist, has passed away earlier today. Mitchell passed on the swamp, doing what he loved.

“Swamp People” aired on the History channel and featured alligator hunters in Louisiana’s Atchafalaya swamp country. According to the Swamp People website, Mitchell Guist and his brother Glenn “were born and raised on the bayou and live entirely off the land.”

Several fans of “Swamp People” have expressed their sadness on Twitter.

One user wrote:

“R.I.P. to Mitchell Guist…One of my favorite characters ony favorite show, Swamp People!”

Another wrote:

“Sad news about Mitchell Guist of “Swamp People.” One of my guilty pleasures is catching that show when I can.”
