Robert Alan Davidson: Man Accused Of Sexually Abusing, Beating 10-Week-Old Daughter To Death

Robert Alan Davidson repeatedly sexually abused his 10-week old daughter and dropped the infant so hard that she eventually died of the injuries, police in Maryland claim.

The 24-year-old Davidson was in court this week to face charges that he caused the death of Aleah Thompson, his infant daughter. Baby Aleah died on June 26 after Davidson made a frantic phone call to 911 saying that the girl was not breathing.

After a two-month investigation, police determined that it was actually Robert Alan Davidson who caused her death, the Washington Post reported.

Davidson has been charged with sex abuse of a minor, child abuse resulting in death, and second-degree murder among other counts.

The baby’s 22-year-old mother, Lorena Thompson, has also been charged with neglect and child abuse counts. Police said she knew about the abuse, but didn’t report the injuries and skipped the baby’s two-month doctor visit.

Police said Davidson admitted to dropping the 10-week-old infant several times, and at least once shaking her aggressively. Davidson reportedly admitted to touching the girl in an inappropriate manner as well, and investigators also say the girl was struck.

Authorities first learned of the abuse on June 23, when Davidson made a call to 911 at 7:18 p.m. to say the girl was not breathing. He claimed he was playing video games when he heard the infant struggling to breathe in the other room.

Even after Aleah died, her parents continued to neglect the girl. Authorities said neither parent claimed the baby’s body, which was still being held at the D.C. Medical Examiner’s office.

“Very rare, tragic, unconscionable,” said Capt. Paul Starks, a spokesman for the Montgomery County police.

This is the latest in a number of disturbing cases of children killed at the hands of their parents.

Earlier this month, a mother reportedly admitted to throwing her newborn infant to his death from the fourth floor of an apartment building.

A 20-year-old neighbor, Mazol Ilyayeva told investigators that she heard a loud thud near the sidewalk and saw a horrifying scene when she went to investigate. She said the infant was dead, and a medical examiner later said he died instantly of “blunt impact of head and torso with skull fractures and lacerations of the liver, brain and spleen.”

“I couldn’t move,” said Ilyayeva. “I couldn’t scream. There was blood everywhere.”

The mother, Rashida Chowdhury, reportedly told police that she believed an evil spirit had taken over her infant. The New York Daily News reported that the mother was taken to a psychiatric hospital after the killing.

In Maryland, Robert Alan Davidson is being held on $5 million bond for the death of his 10-week-old daughter.
