One Direction Disbanding: Simon Cowell May Have Already Predicted The Band’s Breakup

One Direction will reportedly be disbanding in March, and some believe that Simon Cowell may have already predicted the permanent end of the line for the British boy band.

The group plans to take a hiatus early next year, something that’s not entirely a revelation to fans. Back in June, it was reported that the group was planning some time apart after they finish promoting their fifth album.

That news was seemingly confirmed this week.

“The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boyband,” a source told BANG Showbiz. “They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision.

“It is definitely not a split and they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future. But for now it is the end and they go out on top as the world’s most popular music act.”

Though the source and the group’s members have insisted that they’re not breaking up, Hollywood Reporter noted that some statements from Simon Cowell may show otherwise.

Cowell addressed reports that the band he helped create was taking a break. Simon said he hoped that the group would come back together, but made it clear that the decision was entirely up to them.

“In terms of the band, they’ve got enough hits now they can take some time off and do some other stuff they want to do,” Simon told the Sun. “Then I hope they’ll have a little bit of time apart and want to get back together again. It’s a fun job, but it’s absolutely their decision.”

There are other hints that One Direction may be disbanding for good. Back in July, when the group celebrated its five-year anniversary, Harry Styles struck an almost wistful tone. The message had many believing that Harry had his eye on the end of the group.

“We have been a band for five years And it is impossible to thank anyone enough for all the support they have given us over this time,” Harry wrote on Twitter on July 22. “All the crew that we have been so lucky to work with, and everyone who is behind the scenes. We thank you for everything that you do … To you who support us, in any way, thank you. We wouldn’t be here without you. You did this and we thank you for having us. All the love.”

But the speculation about One Direction disbanding is still just that — rumors. The band has not officially announced plans for what will come after they finish and promote their fifth album.
