Donald Trump: ‘It’s Ridiculous’ That Tom Brady Is Suspended [Video]
Donald Trump sounds off about a lot of topics, and Tom Brady and Deflategate make for one of them. It’s no secret that Trump is a fan of Brady – and the presidential candidate even thinks the NFL is too harsh on ol’ Tom.
Deflategate has been a big topic this year, earning Tom Brady a four-game suspension after an investigation commissioned by the NFL and conducted by attorney Ted Wells decided that Tom Brady “more [probably] than not” was “generally aware” that New England Patriot team attendants were deflating footballs before the AFC Championship game, according to Fox News. Brady was also accused of allegedly destroying evidence, reports Fox News. In that championship game, the Patriots were playing against the Indianapolis Colts. Brady fought the four-game suspension in court, and is taking his case to federal court in a bid to have the suspension overruled.

According to The Washington Times, the NFL star isn’t the only one who thinks the suspension should be overturned. Donald Trump said on Mornings With Maria that the decision to suspend Tom is “ridiculous.” Trump continued:
“I think it’s ridiculous the way they’ve treated him. [Brady is] a friend of mine; he’s a great friend of mine. He’s a great guy. I think it’s terrible the way they’ve treated him.”

Donald Trump, not one to shy away from an opportunity to plug his presidential candidacy, elaborated that “[t]his country has bigger problems,” according to Fox News. In fact, Donald thinks the real problem is “[p]eople are so jealous of Tom Brady and the Patriots. No court could convict him based on the evidence. They can’t beat him on the field, so this!”
In the midst of Deflategate, Tom Brady also has to contend with rumors of a $460 million divorce from his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen. The sudden reports of the alleged demise of their marriage has been blamed on the decision to suspend Tom, which has reportedly put a strain on their marriage. A source close to Brady told Hollywood Insider:
“[t]his football season is especially stressful because of Deflate-Gate. Tom is really upset about everything that has gone down and it can’t help but put a strain on their marriage.”
Throughout most of the Deflategate drama, Brady and his soon-to-be ex-wife have kept quiet about their rocky relationship, but now that Tom plans to take the NFL to federal court, it’s rumored that Gisele can’t take any more. Despite being a “great friend” to Tom, however, Donald Trump has stayed mum about the impending divorce.
