Justin Bieber To Perform, Chat With Jimmy Fallon On NBC’s ‘Tonight Show’

Justin Bieber is to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon early next month, in support of his new single and new music era.

The 21-year-old superstar’s new single “What Do You Mean?” officially touches down on August 28. Five days later, the Biebs will rock up go see old sparring partner Jimmy Fallon on NBC’s Tonight Show.

According to Headline Planet, Justin is booked as the lead interview and musical guest on the September 2 edition of the network’s late night talk show.

Justin hinted that he would be heading to Fallon, when he promoted fellow Canadian Carly Rae Jepsen’s date on the show earlier this week on his Twitter account. Jepsen’s her new album Emotion was released two days after her August 18 turn on Fallon.

“What Do You Mean?” is the lead single from Bieber’s upcoming fourth studio album. It is set for release on November 13. After announcing the song at On Air With Ryan Seacrest last month, the singer kicked off a 30-day countdown to its arrival with help from a roll call of celebrities.

To date, famous faces who have appeared in the countdown include Ashton Kutcher, Ed Sheeran, Ruby Rose, Mariah Carey, Chris Martin, Hilary Duff, Usher, Ryan Sheckler, Gigi Hadid, Alanis Morissette, Little Mix, Fifth Harmony, Ariana Grande, Halsey, Travi$ Scott, Tony Hawk, Carly Rae Jepsen, Martin Garrix, and more.

Speaking recently to Billboard about Justin’s comeback launch, manager Scooter Braun said of the celebrities in the social media promotion, “He’s [the Biebs] got a big Instagram [following] and is shouting them out, but they’re also rooting for him.”

“They want to see him win,” Braun explained, “and they’re encouraging him through their participation. I can’t tell you how easy it’s been, because of all the good will people have towards him. There’s been a real sentiment of, ‘All right, young man. Let’s kick some ass.'” He later added that Bieber is “excited and anxious” about his new album.

For anyone who thinks the campaign build-up to the release of “What Do You Mean?” is big, this is just the beginning of the Biebs’ rebooted return to the game. Over at Def Jam, where he is signed, CEO Steve Bartels, tells Billboard the massive “What Do You Mean” rollout is all part of the “music, visuals and overall creative marketing” for Justin’s album. In short: if you’re Bieber fan, get ready to enjoy the media blitz ahead.

In response to a query about the Biebs’ campaign being the opposite of the stealth-release used to such great effect by Beyonce and Drake, Bartels replied, “Sure, a surprise element adds excitement, but we are confident that the anticipation and sense of community we’ve built through our strategic marketing initiatives will outweigh the popular ‘surprise release’ trend.”

Fast forward to Sunday, the superstar jetted to New York to play Billboard’s Hot 100 Music Festival later tonight. Bieber is billed as a “special guest” performer, tagging “Where Are U Now” collaborator Skrillex’s headlining show.

At a soundcheck earlier today, the Biebs was also heard rehearsing Ne-Yo’s “So Sick,” his new single, “What Do You Mean?” “Hold Tight,” “As Long As You Love Me,” and “All That Matters.”

Skrillex — a star producer-DJ in his own right, and one half of Jack U with Diplo — is now the primary producer on the singer’s new album.

Meanwhile, the latest juggernaut names to appear in the Biebs’ countdown are Ben Stiller, who cast him as a cameo in the 2016-due Zoolander 2, and model pal, Kendall Jenner.
