WWE: Daniel Bryan Wants To Fight CM Punk At ‘WrestleMania,’ Hopes For Return Despite Head Injury

Daniel Bryan’s injury took the WWE star out of commission in the short term, but Bryan hopes his return to the ring will come soon. In addition, the wrestler revealed that he had hoped to fight CM Punk at WrestleMania.

In a related report by the Inquisitr, it is expected that Roman Reigns will receive a big push at the end of 2015, and it’s possible he will headline the WrestleMania 32 main event.

The subject of Daniel Bryan’s return came up during a panel at the recent Wizard World convention. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion was quick to point out that he was not certain, but he also said the WWE was being pretty squirrelly about his head injury.

“I’ve had multiple concussions in my career,” Bryan explained candidly, according to the Chicago Tribune. “And [WWE is] looking out for me, as far as whether or not to allow me to return to the ring. With that said, I’ve been cleared by a neurologist who was the neurologist for the Super Bowl. He’s not an employee for the NFL. He was independently hired for the Super Bowl. His specialty is concussions and brain stuff. He has no problem clearing me without any limitations.”

But Daniel Bryan’s injury has the WWE being very cautious. Bryan says he is training as if he will return in the future, but he does not know if the WWE will let him return since “there is a lot of gray areas when it comes to concussions. That’s the iffy part about all of this.”

Although Daniel Bryan’s return is still a question mark, other fans began asking Bryan what he thought about CM Punk. Bryan believes he was given the chance to main event WrestleMania 30 due to CM Punk’s abrupt departure, but Bryan also admits he had hoped for a WrestleMania match with CM Punk.

“It makes me sad, in the sense that I always had this idea in my head that at some point Punk and I would wrestle each other at Wrestlemania,” Bryan said. “But I didn’t know if it would ever happen. It was this idea that I had in my head. It would be our generation’s version of Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. So it made me sad, but you have to understand there’s a flip side to it making me sad. It also was one of the causes of me main eventing Wrestlemania, which I might not have gotten if he didn’t leave. I have these mixed emotions about it.”

Another fan asked if Bryan would like to take on TNA star Kurt Angle, who also has been out of the ring due to a neck injury. Bryan admitted he loved the idea.

“I would love a match with Kurt Angle,” Bryan said. “I think it would be awesome. There are a lot of things I probably shouldn’t say publicly… There’s this idea that WWE might not allow me to wrestle anymore. But part of me thinks, hey, if they don’t, and I’m not sure they will let Kurt Angle wrestle in WWE just with his history, I thought, well, that might be the only way I get to wrestle Kurt Angle. And that’s not such a bad thing. And I would have a bunch of ideas for that. So yeah, I think it would be awesome.”

According to Wrestling Inc, if Daniel Bryan’s return does happen, then he wants to face off against Brock Lesnar. But if the WWE management is uncertain about the head injury, you have to wonder if Vince McMahon would ever let Bryan enter suplex city.
