Jimmy Fallon Chips His Tooth While Rehabbing His Finger, But Won’t Miss Time On ‘Tonight Show’

Jimmy Fallon is in the infirmary again, but the latest injury for the Tonight Show host is a lot less severe than the previous one.

Fallon, who is still recovering from a freak injury that nearly caused him to lose a finger, ended up chipping a tooth when he was trying to rehab. Jimmy shared with fans a picture of the aftermath, showing himself in a dentist chair getting treated.

“Chipped front tooth trying to open tube of scar tissue repair gel for recovering finger injury. Thank you Dr. Jobe DDS! ?#?BestSummerEver? Brand new Tonight Show tonight!” Fallon wrote on Facebook.

That finger injury was much more severe. In June, Jimmy Fallon tripped and caught his ring finger while trying to break his fall. The finger nearly ripped off, and Jimmy had to spend 10 days in an intensive care unit before finally being able to return to his late-night post.

Jimmy isn’t expecting to miss any time for the latest mishap.

“All fixed. Just the icing on the cake,” he told CNNMoney.

Fallon apparently has a big interest in sharing information on his injuries with fans. When he nearly lost the finger in June, Jimmy was on social media within hours, sharing pictures of his bandaged hand.

The finger incident took place at Fallon’s Manhattan apartment, the New York Daily News noted. After spending a night out on the town — including a visit to the restaurant Scalinatella and some time to pose for pictures with fans — Fallon spent the morning at home.

Fallon was in his kitchen when he tripped and fell, catching his wedding ring on a table on the way down. There were initially some reports that Fallon may lose the finger, but ultimately doctors were able to repair it and set Fallon up for what would be a long recovery.

Jimmy was headed to a two-week break when he injured the finger, but he still missed some time.

“Hey guys – unfortunately tonight’s taping has been cancelled due to Jimmy injuring his hand,” the show tweeted after his injury. “He’s totally fine but we’ll be airing a repeat.”

The injury comes amid what is otherwise a career high point for Jimmy Fallon. As CNNMoney pointed out, he just signed a deal with NBC to keep him on as host of the Tonight Show through 2021. For Fallon’s sake, hopefully the next six years will include a lot fewer ER visits than the last six weeks have.
