Evan Rachel Wood Calls Her Days With Marilyn Manson ‘Edgier, More Alternative, And Weird’

Evan Rachel Wood has looked back on her adult life, as she is now living a “normal” and quiet life as the mother of a two-year-old son, and has found that everything began very far from the typical life she is now living. At 19, Wood began a four-year relationship with Marilyn Manson that, looking back, was very much like a roller coaster ride.

“I thought I was in love,” Ms. Wood explains. “I wasn’t doing it to prove a point or be rebellious. I wanted to break a mold, for sure – I knew I was edgier, more alternative and weird. And he was just what I needed because I felt really free with him. And that freedom was attractive.”

Evan Rachel Wood recalls becoming ostracized for her relationship with Manson, but she still stands by her relationship with him.

“I wouldn’t trade any of [our relationship],” Ms. Wood said of her relationship with Marilyn Manson, according to People magazine. “I appreciate everything he taught me.”

The break-up with Manson opened up new possibilities for Evan and she found the freedom to explore her own bisexuality, which was a part of herself that she had kept carefully in check, previously.

“I knew it was part of me, but I hadn’t allowed myself to explore it,” Ms. Wood revealed. “I didn’t realize how crippling it was until I finally opened that door and went, ‘Wow!'”

Now, Ms. Wood is kept busy at home, taking care of her two-year-old son when she’s not working, and that in itself has become a full-time job for Evan. Wood says all of her time is spent caring for her son.

“People say, ‘What about when the baby goes to sleep?'”

“But that’s when I’m doing laundry, cleaning the house, answering emails,” responds Evan Rachel Wood to such questions, as she states in her interview with The Edit. “I pretty much always have a stain on my shirt. That’s my life!”

Looking back on the birth of the young male that has so drastically changed her life, Ms. Wood reveals that it was a home birth, surrounded by the soft glow of lit candles.

“It was a psychedelic experience,” Evan says of delivering her son, whose name has not been revealed to the public. “I felt like I was hitting every corner of the room. Everything was vibrating.”

Evan Rachel Wood has just completed filming of Into the Forest, a sci-fi drama scheduled for a September theatrical release.
